Camping with young kids is hard.
My youngest hates sleeping in new places and couldn’t sleep through the night and my oldest child, turns out, had a bladder infection before we even got going so that became interesting. In any case, we saw some cool stuff and had loads of fun. There is just so much to see and do in and around Moab!

How did you handle the bladder infection?
We have a Coleman tent trailer similar to yours, but without the slide-out. I’ve towed that thing from the Pacific to the Atlantic and back TWICE.

That’s awesome! I went camping this weekend as well, no kids though. It looks... dryer where you are. We got rained on all Saturday afternoon.

How old are yours? We just spent the weekend at my uncles acreage in Omaha. Our boy (14mos) screamed for the last hour of the 4-hour drive out, then my sisters 20 month old decided to scream from about midnight to 4am the first night we were there.
I’m tired.

She did okay, she was in good spirits unless she had to pee, then it hurt her a lot but was over as soon as she stopped. It presented challenges though...she was in tears waiting in line to get into arches because she had to go. She’s a trooper though. her symptoms only really got bad saturday afternoon and we left yesterday so we just got her into the care clinic at home and got her on antibiotics.

holy crap it was dry. We all drank like it was going out of style. You could have jumped in the river and been bone dry in 20 minutes of getting out.

My friends and I go camping a few times a year in Gore, VA. It’s up in the Appalacians, about 2 hours west of Washington, D.C. Its a great place but the weather get’s crazy. Friday night got much colder than we expected, Saturday morning was bone dry and oppressively hot, Saturday afternoon the temp dropped and it poured rain, and Saturday night to Sunday morning was so humid you almost had to swim instead of walk.
I’d love to go camping out west though, I like exploring new places and that looks like so much fun.

How’s your wife holding up?
Sounds rough. No fever? We’ve had a few experiences when our children were small and got sick. We were flying east for Christmas years ago and the airplane we were on had one of its two engines fail — dramatically, with compressor stalls! — and we made an emergency landing in Texarkana and my oldest daughter came down with an ear infection, fever, et cetera. That was a grueling trip and we’ve never tried to travel again at Christmastime since!
Being on vacation with small sick children is the worst. Tell your girl that some complete stranger on Oppo wishes her well!

yeah, she didn’t get a fever this time around, but she did last time in Kokachrome basin last year. She is a tough little thing though and she still had a pretty good time.
